Course Description

Blender is an open-source 3D modeling and animation application used by media artists and designers. Building on the skills from 3D Animation Studio 1: Introduction to Blender this course explores advanced modeling techniques, character rigging, building 3D environments, and visual effects (VFX). Studio work will be supported by technical demonstrations, lectures, and critiques. Software for this course is available online for free at Blender.org

LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon the successful completion of this course, students will have gained:

  • Intermediate knowledge of modelling techniques and digital sculpting
  • Intermediate knowledge of character rigging and movement
  • Intermediate knowledge of texture normal mapping
  • Intermediate lighting and rendering outputs
  • Intermediate knowledge of visual effects (VFX) techniques
  • Understanding of how to use geometry nodes to modify and create geometry-objects and operations
     

Recommended Prerequisites

CSDM-N140 3D Animation Studio 1: Introduction to Blender or equivalent experience.
