SCS Partner ArtWorkTO Receives City of Toronto Manager's Award

OCAD U School of Continuing Studies would like to congratulate our partner ArtWorksTO on receiving a City Manager’s Award in the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion category. The City Manager’s Awards were presented in a private ceremony at Toronto City Hall on September 19th, 2024.

ArtWorksTO is an equity, diversity and inclusion workforce development program that directly invests in Indigenous, Black, racialized and 2SLGBTQ+ youth working towards careers as creative industries professionals. Participants receive paid contracts with the City of Toronto, a certificate from OCAD U School of Continuing Studies, and industry mentorship from the Remix Project. They also receive culturally relevant mentorship and support from the Toronto Arts Foundation.

To date, ArtworksTO has awarded $188.00 to 47 participants, enabling them to create diverse creative projects including short videos, graphic design and social media campaigns. Through ArtWorksTO, the City is contributing to amplifying the voices of equity-deserving youth and opening pathways to careers in the creative industries.

ArtWorksTO is a partnership between the Toronto Arts Foundation’s Neighbourhood Arts Network (NAN), the City of Toronto, The Remix Project, and OCAD U.

The City Manager's Award for Toronto Public Service Excellence is a recognition initiative introduced in 2008. It is the Toronto Public Service’s highest honour. The award is presented annually to a City division or program that has achieved a high and measurable standard of excellence.
